 October 10, 2018 –  IHRIS Steering Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, Oct. 10, the IHRIS Steering Committee held its regular monthly meeting. Dr. Alice Aiken chaired the meeting, which was attended by Dalhousie’s Deans of Medicine, Dentistry and Health, as well as representatives from the IWK, the Department of Business, the Nova Scotia Health Authority, Nova Scotia Labour and Advanced Education, Halifax Partnership, Medavie Health Services, Saint Mary’s University and the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.

During this meeting, the Project Manager shared a quarterly report from the Project Management Team (PMT). Some key PMT activities included developing a knowledge transfer / evaluation-based demonstration project, engaging patients and citizens in a Bridge event, distributing information about IHRIS to the Research community, launching the IHRIS website and participating in the IHRIS breakfast panel at the Healthy Living Healthy Life conference.

The Research Assets, Interoperability and Maritime SPOR Support Unit working groups also provided updates to the Steering Committee. A list of research assets will be available by the end of November and the Research Asset group will consider how to partner with private industry in the future. The Interoperability group is expanding to include administrative staff from all universities and colleges in the Province. The MSSU working group discussed strategies for partnering with other organizations across the province for more efficiency and better alignment.


June 2018

IHRIS planning has been underway since February 2018. Since that period a Network Steering Committee has been established and they have appointed a Project management Team. Together these group established a vision and an initial governance structure to guide development.

Other achievements include:

  • Two formal working groups established.
  • Draft plan developed for the establishment of the MSSU as the backbone of the Network.
  • Engagement of representatives of 9 institutions from across the province in working groups, advisory group and PMT.
  • Plan for piloting “Network style” projects developed and executed in partnership with the MSSU.
